Empowering Through Education
CIWA promotes the mission of the Church through exemplary teaching and learning that empowers active involvement in society and contributes to growth in spirituality. We emphasise respect for all life and all persons, just preference for the poor and powerless, collaboration with other churches and faiths, and the development of informed consciences for decision-making.
We fulfil this mission by teaching Scripture, Theology and Religious Education and preparing teachers and leaders to continue the mission of the Church in Catholic schools.
A Holistic Approach
CIWA value the broader understanding of faith education: that all are co-learners and co-creators who critically reflect on the Catholic tradition. It’s our privilege to journey with those exploring life’s big questions in light of the teachings of the Church from Vatican II.
Journeys of inquiry are essential for faith development. We believe faith and education are life-long commitments, often woven together in the pursuit for study and knowledge. In this pursuit, the Catholic faith is committed to the free and full development of the human person. We believe this contributes to the wholeness of all humanity, and in turn, the transformation of the world.
